At the regularly scheduled board meeting on December 17th, 2012, the administration and Board of Education of Grant Park CUSD #6 received a generous donation from the MainSource Bank, Grant Park division. A check in the amount of $2,475 was presented to Grant Park #6 officials, specifically targeted to offset the costs of the self-funded Preschool program. Joni Reynolds and Cassie Karstensen presented the check to Board Vice-President Tim Markland.
Superintendent Dr. John Palan learned the good news last month, as Main Source contacted the school. Palan noted, “Mrs. Reynolds called the district with the idea of finding ways to help offset the costs of valuable programs offered at Grant Park schools. After that conversation, the proposal was written to help support the Preschool program. District #6 is very appreciative of this donation, as the costs associated with this program continue to rise in a time when the district receives no state funding for Preschool. Without doubt, it was an extremely kind gesture received right before the holiday.” Last year, Grant Park School District #6 was forced to raise the annual tuition cost for students in the program in an effort to offset soaring costs.
